Modern Apprenticeship

WANT TO TAKE YOUR LEARNING FURTHER?

Why not consider our Modern Apprenticeship in Rural Skills?

Thanks to a unique partnership between the Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust (HPCLT), Forestry and Land Scotland, National Trust for Scotland at Ben Lawers and the Dalchosnie & Kynachan Estate, those who have successfully completed the Dùn Coillich Rural Skills Traineeship can apply for a Rural Skills Modern Apprenticeship, operating across land held by the partner organisations.

The year long apprenticeship is chance to earn a wage and gain an industry-recognised qualification at the same time, with the opportunity to gain further experience in rural land sector skills, ranging from habitat monitoring to forest maintenance, livestock management to site management.

If you are looking for meaningful career progression, hands-on experience in a wide range of rural environments, and a recognised Scottish Vocational Qualification, this could be the opportunity for you!

LEARN AND EARN!

A Modern Apprenticeship (MA) is a job which lets people earn a wage and gain an industry-recognised qualification for the skills acquired through specific training and on-the-job experience.

Two posts are available per year on a fixed term contract – and if your application is successful you’ll come out with a healthier bank balance AND a Modern Apprenticeship in Rural Skills SCQF (Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework) Level 5!

You’ll be employed by HPCLT, but will spend time working across the four locations, with about 40% of your time at Dùn Coillich Community Land, 25% each at Ben Lawers and Forestry and Land Scotland locations, and 10% at the Dalchosnie and Kynachan Estate.

There are no formal written exams – your day to to day work will be documented and reviewed by an independent Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) assessor so you can show how you’ve gained the right skills, knowledge and understanding, with full support from your supervisors throughout the Apprenticeship.

Applications open just once a year each spring and priority is given to graduates of our Rural Skills Traineeship – but for an informal chat, job description and to find out more, give our Project Officer Heather Hamilton a call on 07849 268411 or drop her an email projectofficer@hpclt.org.
