The best way to

discover

landscape-scale, community-owned ecological restoration? Come and experience it!

We are firmly committed to connecting people to the land, wildlife and each other and there’s nothing better than sharing the joy it can bring.

Whether you’re just passing through, new to the area or have a lifelong connection, why not come and experience walking and wildlife watching opportunities in this stunning landscape?

Dùn Coillich, the hill that gives our land its name, sits in the shadow of Schiehallion. Since 2002, a combination of planting and natural regeneration has resulted in new native woodland now inhabited by an ever-increasing array of wildlife.

The summit – which at 572m above sea level offers breathtaking views of Highland Perthshire – is now surrounded by a mosaic of habitats including emerging woodland, open moorland, limestone outcrops, wildlife ponds, bogs, marshes, mires, and flushes.

We have created

12km of marked trails

for visitors to explore.

These take you through the developing scots pine, oak, hazel and birch woodland, with stands of rowan and areas of scrubby willow along the way. Look out for hen harriers, listen to the mewing of buzzards, and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see a golden eagle riding the thermals over Schiehallion!

Why not delve even deeper to discover more about the wildlife that makes its home here before you visit? Get to know more about some of our key species and habitats here.

Or even better, come to one of our walks and talks and meet our experts who will share with you their knowledge and enthusiasm for everything ‘Dùn Coillich’.

We are part of a wider movement to increase native woodland cover and biodiversity, bringing environmental, economic and social benefits to an increasingly wide range of people. That’s why we’re part of the Heart of Scotland Forest Partnership, creating a vital, linked woodland corridor stretching across more than 3,000 hectares, all the way from the Keltneyburn Special Area of Conservation to Loch Tummel.
