Volunteers

are the cornerstone of everything we do
– and we love welcoming new faces!

Between them, around 200 volunteers give around 3,000 hours of practical, hands-on work every year, donating their time and having a huge amount of fun along the way! It’s a great way of connecting with nature, improving well-being, making new friends, sharing skills and leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit the community and the environment.

Whether you are local and want to get involved on a regular basis, a visitor to Highland Perthshire who wants to immerse yourself in the landscape, or just need to get out of the office for a day, why not come along and experience for yourself the joy this land brings to people and the lasting benefits it brings to nature?

Weekly Tuesdays

Your chance to join our regular weekly sessions.

WHEN: every Tuesday 10 am – 3 pm.

Where: we meet at the main Dùn Coillich carpark.

WHO: open to everyone, all training and equipment provided.

What you need: suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, lunch and a willingness to share your skills, learn from others and get stuck in!

Every Tuesday our volunteers get hands-on with all aspects of site management, from improving footpaths to maintaining deer fences, building benches to tree pruning, ecological surveys to habitat creation.

Come for the whole day or just a couple of hours – all equipment and training is provided, just wear warm layers and sturdy footwear, bring your lunch and, as this is Scotland, don’t forget waterproofs!

There is always plenty to do to suit different ages, abilities, and energy levels, and you never know, you might be lucky enough to spot an eagle or get a glimpse of a hen harrier when you’re out and about on the hill!

MONTHLY SUNDAYS

Looking for something to do at the weekend?

Our monthly volunteer sessions are a great chance to meet new people, spend time in a stunning landscape and do something positive for your local environment.

Taking place on the last Sunday of every month, it’s easy to sign up and get involved. You’ll be given all the equipment and training you need, just bring warm layers, sturdy footwear, your lunch – and be prepared for whatever the Scottish weather might throw at you!

WHEN: last Sunday of the month 10am – 3pm.

Where: Dùn Coillich or other Heart of Scotland Partnership locations.

WHO: open to everyone, all training and equipment provided.

What you need: suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, lunch and a willingness to share your skills, learn from others and get stuck in!

BESPOKE GROUPS

Tailored volunteer days

Are you a business looking for team-building opportunities? A community group looking to get involved in hands-on ecological restoration? A charity which wants to give people a chance to get up close and personal with nature’s recovery? Dùn Coillich has something for everyone, from sitting quietly amongst a glade of trees to striding out towards a view of Schiehallion and beyond.

Whether your group needs space to reflect, or to work off some energy, we can tailor sessions accordingly. They might range from hands-on volunteering such as tree planting, pond clearing and fence repair to gentle guided walks for people who might not otherwise have the chance to escape into the hills.
