Dùn Coillich midsummer barbeque and bioblitz – save the date!

Can you believe we’re just a few weeks away from the longest day? It’s always a day for celebration at Dùn Coillich Community Land and this year we’ll be making the most of it not just with our annual barbeque but a bioblitz!

Saturday 21st June is a date for your diary if you fancy coming along to help us identify as many species as we can in one day.  Guided by experts we’ll be bird watching, botanising and butterfly hunting with a bit of pond dipping on the side…

We’ll round off the event with our annual midsummer barbeque, chance to meet old friends, make new ones and enjoy good food and conversation in the surroundings of this beautiful, regenerating landscape.

Bioblitz activities will kick off at 10.00am with the barbeque firing up at 2.00pm.  Keep an eye on our Facebook Group for updates, and visit the What’s On page of the website to find out more about our summer events programme and gatherings.

Stop press: there’s still chance to sign up for ‘Evolution and Adaptation – The Struggle for Existence’ on Saturday 7th June. Led by trustee Richard Paul we will be using plants and animals encountered on a walk across Dùn Coillich as triggers for discussing specific survival techniques that have evolved in each species.

Booking is essential via Eventbrite and places are limited.  All of our events are free for members of Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust, the suggested donation for non members is £5.
