Call out to Dùn Coillich rural skills graduates!

New Modern Apprenticeship now available

January 2025

Are you a graduate of the Rural Skills Traineeship run by the Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust at Dùn Coillich?  Are you in touch with anyone who is?

Then you’ll want to know about a really exciting opportunity now open to those who have completed the Traineeship – a new, salaried Modern Apprenticeship programme opening right now!

The Dùn Coillich Rural Skills Traineeship – designed to give young people from all walks of life chance to experience a hands-on, targeted programme tailored to careers in land management – has been running since 2016.

Previous trainees have gone on to work in everything from forestry to farming, gamekeeping to conservation.

Now, thanks to a unique partnership between the Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust (HPCLT), Forestry and Land Scotland, National Trust for Scotland at Ben Lawers and the Dalchosnie & Kynachan Estate, those who successfully complete the Dùn Coillich Rural Skills Traineeship can now apply for a Rural Skills Modern Apprenticeship, operating across land held by the partner organisations.

The year long apprenticeship is chance to earn a wage and gain an industry recognised qualification at the same time, with the opportunity to gain further experience in rural land sector skills, ranging from habitat monitoring to forest maintenance, livestock management to site management.

Only two roles are available per year on a fixed term contract – and if your application is successful you’ll come out with a healthier bank balance AND a Modern Apprenticeship in Rural Skills SCQF Level 5!
