Enter a whole new world at Dùn Coillich…

The rocks of Dùn Coillich Community Land are fascinating in themselves – from outcrops of the famous Schiehallion boulder bed to Dalradian limestone which supports beautiful lime-loving flowers such as rock rose, globe flower, wild strawberry and thyme throughout spring and summer.

But look even closer and you’ll see they are hosts to even tinier life forms, which reveal all their glory under a hand lens: lichens!

You may have walked our lovely trails before – but if you fancy delving even deeper into Dùn Coillich there’s no better way than to spend some time with Petra Vergunst, moss and lichen enthusiast, as she takes us on a tour of this miniature world.

Join us at 10.00am on Saturday 19th July for ‘where there is rock there are lichens’, an exploration of the rock-dwelling lichens that have made the rock outcrops, drystone dykes and boulders in water courses of Dùn Coillich their home.

Booking is essential via Eventbrite and places are limited.  All of our events are free for members of Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust, the suggested donation for non members is £5.
